Why are Ampeg amps so heavy?

Good amps are heavy! One of the reasons why SVT amps are so heavy is because their construction is so solid. It’s like a tank and they are build for the road. I use an Ampeg B4R with the SVP-PRO Pré amp and my god, that baby is wonderfull but the weight is sometimes unbearable (about 55 pounds).
