Nicot is a rearing system that is essentially the same as Jenter’s frame, and it’s a relief to work with transferring the breed to the queen’s bowls without the need for a good sight and a strong hand.
How do you raise a queen bee?

- establishing a starter colony for initial stage of raising queen cells.
- establishing the cell building colony.
- grafting honey bee larvae.
- transferring the mature queen cells to honey bee nucleus colonies for the mating stage.

How do you know if a queen cell is viable?
If the workers are on it, it is most likely viable. If has been capped for more than 9 days, it is not. If it is not surrounded by capped brood, it is probably not a good cell.
How do you breed a queen honey bee?
Grafting
- Step 1: Assemble grafting equipment. Clean grafting tool.
- Step 2: Assemble a queenless cell starter nuc. 5 frame nuc (wood or cardboard)
- Step 3: Select a hive for grafts.
- Step 4: Assemble a mating nuc for each capped queen cell.
