Certification. The AC&R Safety Coalition exam validates that a person possess the knowledge to safely work with this refrigerant and helps reduce liability. This 50-question exam covers proper safety, handling, and application of R-410A refrigerant systems.

Is venting 410A illegal?

You cannot legally vent R410A refrigerant into the atmosphere. Though it does not have high ozone depletion potential, it is a greenhouse gas so it is regulated by the EPA and they say don’t vent it into the atmosphere. If you do, then you have violated the Clean Air Act.

You are required to have an EPA Section 608 Type II or Universal certification license to handle R-410A but no license is legally necessary for purchase.

  1. correctly answer 21 or more questions,

How do I get universal EPA certification?

To earn your certification you must pass a one-time exam administered by an EPA-approved certifying organization. Your certification never expires and there is no requirement for renewal.

Can you mix R-22 with R-410A?

You can do it. You can mix R-22 and R-410a refrigerant in the same system.
